Is it worth acquiring a Kindle when I could just get the app?

Query by Chloe: Is it well worth finding a Kindle when I could just get the app? I was considering getting the Amazon Kindle but they are priced at around £89+ but I could just get the totally free app for my iPod, is it well worth the cash or should I conserve and use the app as an alternative?
